Adjusting manual blend doors on Euro-model W116

Hi all,

I have a 1979 280SE with the manual AC controls. The sliding levers for the driver/passenger cold/warm blend doors occasionally stick, and lately I manhandled one a little too hard to get it unstuck. While it moves freely now, the driver's side blend door does not close completely any more and I am bathed in incredibly hot air.

How can these be adjusted? I wanted to get an idea of what to do and its difficulty before I started taking things apart under the dash. Also, is there a way to lubricate or otherwise fix the doors to keep them from sticking?

Thank you!

Josh
