Running the car in Oregon this weekend.

We have the car in the Monte Shelton NW Classic Rally this weekend. It is a TSD event with some very cool cars and a 102-car field this year. Come check it out. We are now in Bend, Oregon for the second half!

Check the pictures from today's route that went up over Mt. Hood!

Anybody have any tricks for using the Fintail vertical instrument cluster in rally? Neither the odometer or the trip meter count tenths, only whole miles, and they flip over rapidly at the mile interval instead of smoothly turning to help count partial miles. Any solutions for this other than an external unit like a Halda?

Thanks!

I say use a GPS too.

Oh and did I say how much I like your fintail?

P.S. I would really appreciate it if you would post a bigger version of the Mountain picture, so I may use it as my desktop background. my screen size is 1680x1050. Thanks in advance-

Ha, GPS... we can't even use a calculator in the vintage groups.

Strictly old-school stuff. If we were going modern we'd likely get a digital rally timer, but we want to keep this car vintage.

Any thoughts on good period rally set-ups seen in Fintails is appreciated.

OK, look for a police speedo, the type that used to be mounted under the dash so they could chase cars and be used as evidence in courts. I am sure they measure miles off in 10th's . Stewart warner used to make them I think. They used Haldo speed pilots in the Daimler rallye cars but those who have them want Rolex money . You may be able to rent one?

Hunt around on bringatrailer.com; they've also been busy with a Stingray rebuild.

The CA classic rally season is starting up soon, so there may be more stories coming, too.
