Fintail seat color change

Hey guys,

I'm considering changing the seat color in my fin and would like to get some opinions. If I uploaded the pics correctly, hopefully you can see the changes in question.
On the door panels, you will see the original color of the interior that was done in a natural leather. At some point, the seat covers degraded and some vinyl seats were installed. I believe that color option (for the orange) is cognac or bamboo. They're close but they are just too orange for me and the original leather color is not an option in vinyl.
I pulled a set of black vinyl seats out of a dead 230S and the back set is a drop fit but the fronts don't fit well. I'll have to get some new covers made and change them.
My question is, what do you think of the black set of seats? I know that in a proper fin, the door panels will match the seat color. It won't be technically correct although I think the color combos of black seats, natural door panels and graphite grey exterior will be pleasing enough.

On another curve I was thinking of throwing in there is to leave out the quintessential perforation and order the new set smooth. I know this was a valid option, just don't see it that much. Not sure on that variable though. .
This fin won't ever be a perfect collectors car so I'm not too worried about affecting the value.
Thanks for your input.

I think the black seats look good as long as you have the door panel caps, B pillar covers, grab handles, and dashboard pad in black. They would clash with the brown parts, but would look good with tan parts like the door panels.

The 1965 and earlier cars have different seat tracks. I believe the pans are the same, so you just swap them over. We did this when we installed 1970s W109 seats in my roommate's 1965 220S. We installed black seats and they clashed with the brown parts, so we swapped the brown parts with black and it looks great.

You can vinyl dye the door panels and dash easily enough. You should get a black carpet set also, then. But, I think the color you want is indeed bamboo. The problem is, is that there's two different Bamboos- a 167 which has a slight orange tinge, and a 349, which is very close to the later "Palomino", and sounds like the "natural leather" you're talking about. A clear pic of a door panel might clear things up on that. My personal favorite interior for Graphitgrau is, of course, red. I think black is too drab- but then, I live in Western Oregon, where the sky usually matches the color of your car!
