So let's just say I wanted a plaid interior in my W111...

Where can I find out what OEM plaid may have been offered and where would I find those reproduced today?

Anyone have a W111 coupe or w108/109 in plaid?

I don't know about flannel but my '74 280C had some hideous green and white checked seats when I got it. Appeared to be original Euro style. Thank Otto they were trashed and the FIRST thing to go!

I don't recall ever seeing a Mercedes with true plaid. As for nostalgia, I think it could look really cool.

Some gullwings had a nice tartan plaid on their seats. I like the look.

That's much more what I was thinking of, and I've also seen the plaid on some Gelandewagens that were grey market imports. Seems very rare on US cars.

I tried to find the 300SL plaid. Very expensive. You can get it from the Classic Center. I couldn't find anything else close but you could commission a custom weave for a group buy.

The G-Wagon plaid is available. One of the G forums in the last couple years had some information from an owner that re-trimmed his interior. He found the stuff somewhere.

That plaid in the gullwings is fantastic stuff. It breathes and you dont slip and slide when driving hard. It never gets hot in summer and stays warmish in winter. if only mercedes offered it in other models. ..

I had a 300d 1976 that I bought for the engine. The body was very rough on it but it had nice (Euro?) seats in it with vinyl on the sides and plaid in the center. I threw them away but now wish I had held onto them. They were in pretty good shape. The padding was also different in them. It seemed to lack the springs and rely on just foam like lesser cars.

What about VW Westfalia plaid? Readily available by the yard, and very retro:
