230/250/280SL 6 speed Transmission

Although I have been a Pelican for some time through my Porsche interest, I am new to the MB site.
A Porsche friend in Europe recently visited my shop in Virginia and saw that I was working on a 230SL. Jump to the point, he has one and wanted all around performance so he developed a new 6 speed getrag to adapt to the W 113 Chassis. I'm having several shipped to the US and have posted an ebay ad for any interested. Pictures can be seen on the ebay ad.
have a great day,

rusty

Cool stuff, I actually like my MB being an automatic, but it's very cool.

Where's your shop? I'm in Northern VA, PM me details if you'd like.

Interesting! There was a 280 SL on craigslist that was advertised as having a 6 speed transmission.

The ebay listing number for 6 speed manual is 320789420957. Not akamai enough to provide link, so any help would be appreciated.

Rusty, put "W113" in your ebay listing title and you'll get a ton more traffic. Looks like a neat product!

I posted a link to your eBay ad on the Pagoda SL Group forum here: Pagoda 6 speed manual trans kit on eBay

There is the place where all Pagoda owners chat so you should start a discussion there also.

Wow, very interesting development.

I am just now shopping for a transmission upgrade for the Finny, as the freeway revs are just too much.

Up to now, it seems the factory ZF 5-speed (pricey and hard to find) and the Getrag 265 (total DIY cost about $1500 with used trans) swaps are the only bets.

I love this 6-speed idea. The builder of the Getrag swap kits says the W113 kit works on a W111 sedan, and that the tunnel is actually more accommodating.

I assume the same would be true for this one?

Also, I'm not familiar with the ST600 series transmission. What else does this box come in? Is that a custom bellhousing that bolts straight up?

Again, bravo on the effort! Any reversible mods that make these cars more enjoyable to drive are great additions!

Very cool. I was wondering if it would fit my W114, until I saw the price. Looks like I'm stuck with the automatic until someone buys the car off me.

Interesting notion. I have one with an original 5 speed. With my rear axle ratio I get a 3.45 final drive in 5th gear. I assume the 6 speed has two over drive gears?
The engine on these cars is designed for high RPMS which is where it makes all of its torque. I'm not sure what ratio you would have in 6th gear but once you get it high enough ecceleration would suffer unless you were doing 70 MPH.

Not completely sure so I'm speculating.

How close is the bell housing if it were to fit into a R107, W115, W116, or W123?
