76 W115 300D Floorboard Compatibility Question
Hello,
Does anyone know if these floor panels will fit my 1976 W115 300D? 5742754 - 1968-1975 Mercedes 200-280 W114 and W115 Floor Panel, Half Section Passenger's Side They look almost identical to what I see in the shop manual. If they won't fit, does anyone know where I can find some replacement floor panels for this car? I'm also possibly in the market for a trunk floor panel (still have to dig around in there and look for rust) and I can't seem to find a source for that anywhere. It seems like all of the US shops that used to sell replacement panels for W115's have stopped in recent years. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!! |
This will work just fine for a 300D but careful when cutting it's a big chunk of metal.

Wow, I didn't know you could get these parts again....very good to know.
I have a question too, do they fit in both the Coupes and Sedans? |
I have replaced a floor in the rear passenger of a 115 and found out that you need to check under the floor as well. Look for any braces that might be there as you will need them, too.
So, you might ask, how do I check for something that is rusted away? The only thing you can do is find a donor car, likely in a wrecking yard, and look under it. The thing is you don't want to cut out a piece for floor to replace yours and then find that if you had just cut out a bigger piece you would also have the braces you didn't know you needed. By the way, I cut a piece bigger than I needed and just dropped it in over the old rusted out spot. In other words: I did not try to butt-weld it in but did an overlay and went around the edge. This fit so tight that after the carpets were replaced you could not even feel it was higher by 1/16 of an inch. |

You'd be better off drilling out the spot welds with the proper tool. Then cut the remaining longer welds.

I don`t know where you are located, but.............
There is a 76 W115 in the San Jose PNP on Commercial. it looks almost rust free. I didn`t lift the carpets tocheck the floors. but did check the front fenders and hood. they look clean. the R/R lower quarter looked good. the L/R quarter, had some rust. Charlie |
