fan and wipers stay on when car is shut off w115
Hello I have a w115 1975 300d , My heater fan, and wipers will stay on when I shut off the car. It has been this way al long as I have owned this car but I don't think MB designed it this way and suppose it must be an electrical problem.
If it is an electrical problem, any suggestions on which relay goes to these things and where it is located and how to test it. If not a relay, would it be the ignition switch? Or any other ideas? Much Thanks, |

If I had to guess....
... Two unrelated systems would have me thinking a common point.
Perhaps the "ignition" key switch is not giving a full turn to the switch. There is a flat pot metal jumper between the key and the switch, and if it's broken the key would not fully turn the switch off. Verify with a wiring diagram and a meter from under the dash to see if the switch is shutting power off. Jim

The ignition switch works, but now how it is supposed to. most accessories turn off when the switch is off. But the ignition switch does not have a working start position (no "start" position where you feel spring tension). The previous owner put in a manual starter button, most likely because of that.
Suppose the key part of the ignition switch need replacing to fix that no spring tension problem. But let me know your thoughts. Any way to test if the electronic part of the ignition switch is good or not? |
