So those flat things are springs?? Will definately be doing this now. I will space the xmember down at least another 10 - 15 mm to give me a bit more clearance on the sump because I have to fit an engine "nappy" now in case of oil spills. Will try to get to your place earlier on tuesday if I can. Can you text or pm me your address again please?

Thank you once again for those springs, they worked perfect and lifted the front of the car about an inch. The crossmember gives me something to work with setting up the coil overs. What are the ones in the photo you posted?? I have striped the xmember to clean it up so I can work with it, is there anything you need back from it? Brakes? Sway bar? Or is it all trash???

You can keep the extra bits..ha ha .The stub axles are drum brake units and not worth anything so you wont need them either. King pin parts and the control arms are worth you hanging onto them ,though.
I think there's enough crap here now.
The shocks in the pic are some ancient Konis from a Pantera .
New versions have nice alloy bodies with adjustable features.

Any idea what the original spring rates are? Would be handy to have a starting point for when I order springs for the coil overs.

No sorry Guy.i only have the factory specs which has everything but spring rates. A Koni or who ever supplier should be able to work out the correct spring size using the cars new mass with the SBC . Did you ever get a finny manual steering box?

Yep, got one out of a w108 250s. Steering is barely heavier than the power steer was. The skinny front tyres might help with this?? Was a bolt in conversion just had to make some longer pins for the coupling.

the non powersteer cars are not much heavier than the power steer cars, even with radials etc but pretty rare in W108's. i have only ever seen one ,a low mileage, column change manual 250S.It also had a radio delete panel and a bench seat. Must have been the cheapest mercedes ever sold in OZ.

Ok, off to get wheel allignment on Monday morning. Will worry about coil over conversion in the future. See how the boys at Three Point Service handle the methanol fumes in their shed, ha ha ha. Will try and get their early on Monday morning so I can have it unloaded by the time they start at eight!
