300SEL 3.5, M116: tensioner rail pad
Does someone know if the tensioner rail of the 3.5 can be refurbished with a new pad?
I see the note in the manual but don't know if this was only an option 40 years ago. Martin |

Just get a new one, cheaper by far.

This really depends on the price.... anyone there who did change the tensioner pad?

Just for the record: I could buy a pad (white plastic) at classic center for cheap and it should fit the aluminum tensioner rail. Unfortunately I had the earlier steel tensioner rail with worn rubber pad. What I did was milling the steel rail in order to fit the plastic pad. And it seemed to work well. It is not too crazy to do.
I did install the 'new' tensioner. |
