114 heater blower motor only high speed

1972 250C; heater blower motor works on high all the time with ignition on; I found one post suggesting a connection at the firewall near the heater core hoses and one under the dash above the pedal assembly; my switch knob clicks three times but has no effect, turn the key on and you have full throttle fan motor, at least it works. Anyone dealt with this before, the manual I have is useless. Thanks

The resistor pack is bad. Replace it.

What do you know about the history of the car? AC working? There is a separate blower for AC, but the fan switch controls both blowers. Are you sure that the heater blower is the one that is running? The switch under the dash is for AC switch-over. It is activated by vacuum. The terminal on the firewall, near the heater circulation valves, connects to the heater blower resistor. The resistor box is part of the blower assembly.

The wiring schematic in the FSM is most useful for tracking down the AC and heater circuits, but it will only show how things should be. When things are as they should be, you will at least be able to turn off the blower. It sounds like your fan switch has been bypassed.
