New guy intro, also a few questions:

Hey guys, picked up a '73 450SEL last week and I have been enjoying tinkering with it, getting it ready for the road. This is personally my first Benz, although my dad used to have an 84 300D while I was a kid and currently is driving a '92 400SE. Here's a couple pics of the car:

As you can see the front end has been repainted for some reason (found the receipt along with a few others in the glovebox) but they didn't quite match it right. It runs excellent and only has 99k on it. There are more pictures in the eBay auction:

Nice find.

Listing gone, BTW, so can't see "more pics at..."

Do all cars in FL have limo tint? Every car in the background looks gangster...

Good luck, and enjoy your tank.

Thanks! The auction was still available to look at before, I will just have to take some new pics. As for the tint, having no tint in the FL sun will kill you after a while lol

I also had a question about the inside of the engine bay. I was freshening things up yesterday and noticed a spot in the left corner where it looks like something was mounted. There is a wiring harness along the firewall with about 4-5 wires chopped off right before it reaches that spot and I'm not sure what was there or where the wires go to. Things that aren't working: Antenna mast, windshield washer pump, and central locks (although I know these are vacuum operated). If anyone could tell me if something is supposed to be there I would appreciate it.

Lovely car, funny how they start to look more and more "classic" with each passing year. Such a well proportioned transition between modern and classic, I'm sure you will enjoy her! BTW, does she have that unique interior smell that model tends to get from the aging horsehair? I used to hate it but now I love anytime I am around one of those, brings me back to my youth when I would sit in them at car dealerships and dream.
