moving valve adjustment?

Hi all

I am trying to adjust the valve clearance on my '67 250SE. I just received the Crow foot 14mm special wrench i ordered from the USA (I couldn't move the adjustment nuts with a straight wrench fearing rounding the nuts...) and low and behold... I can't move them now either...

Please can you confirm for me: There is no lock nut on these, its just a resistance fit in the thread right?
Even with the special wrench i've rounded one of the nuts without any movement in the clearance.

Thanks
Simon

Happy to report I managed to get things moving - just number 1 inlet and 5 inlet were really stiff, and were of course the first ones i was trying. All ended up moving except number 1 inlet, which is at 4 thou anyway, so i can live with that for now.

cheers

Glad you got things sorted, welcome to Peach Parts by the way!

I have a couple of stiff adjusters on my 230. I remove the retaining spring, compress the valve, remove the follower, and use a socket to turn the adjuster. Tedious, but effective.

Oh, so you don't have to remove the cam shaft, just the follower? Thats good to know. I might revisit that stuck one as you've mentioned in the near future.

Thankyou
