280SE 4.5 electric windows

Where is the service information for the W108 power windows? I've got the Passenger Cars Starting 1959 manual which has a Body section but doesn't cover the power windows and vent window assemblies of my 1972 280SE 4.5. I've also got the Passenger Cars 1968 to 1973 manual which covers no Body sections at all. Does this info exist?

Tom

You'd probably need a 108/109 service manual. They're not too difficult other than the wiring. Fuses are under the hood along the firewall and control diagonal pairs (RF & LR, LF & RR).

Not all jobs are listed in the Mercedes manuals. What is your real question, are you having problems with your electric windows or are you just searching for some reading material?

The windows in my coupe were VERY slow when I got it. In fact one needed help by pulling it up. I found old, hard grease in the gear boxes, pivoting and sliding parts stiff from lack of lubrication and the nylon bushing kit worn out+ the tracks were mis adjusted causing extra friction. I got them working pretty good and only needed one part from MB(the nylon bushing kit) which was very inexpensive. I think there is considerable voltage drop through the switch and wiring. I have thought about putting relays in the doors operated by the switches so the motors can get full voltage-kind of what is done with headlighs so the full current of the lights is not passing through the switch.
