75 450sl cruise control problem

Hi, Philco-Ford cruise on my 75 450sl.. Have to get up to 80+ hit cruise, it backs to 40 then holds. Checked "servo" and "teleflex cable" and vac lines which seem to be ok. Tried to pull "amplifier" but saw numerous wires coming out of it that I couldn't track and disconnect, so I quit.

Need to know if I located the proper "amp" and if so, how to get it out, or any other suggestions. Newer cruise system just have a plug to the amp.

The HAYNES 350 & 450 repair manual has a good picture of the Philco unit but thats as far as it goes.

Any suggestions would be appreciated,

0055451232 I believe is the part number , black ( sometimes silver) box, mid size I think it is under dash , passengers side
