Vintage sales brochure!

While digging through the papers of my Mom's estate, I happened to find a box from my grandparent's estate. While I recall my grandfather gazing over at the Mercedes dealership in Park Ridge, Illinois longingly, I found tangible evidence of his unfulfilled passion: a sales brochure! I think it is probably from 1964, since that is when he ended up buying a Ford Galaxy 500. Apparently he looked at the Mercedes models that year, too.

My first benz was just like the black 220 sitting by the pond. I bought it to travel in Europe in 1973. When I got back I bought a 62 190c for $500. It had sold new in 62 for 4000, right in line with the prices your brochure shows with a little inflation.

Those are pretty cool documents to hold onto or sell.

Likely a 1959 or 1960 publication. There should be a date code on it on or near the back page. Price chart shows effective date of 1959 and the ponton 220SE coupe went out of production in 1960.

I'd be curious to hear if anyone on the forum has a 1959 Mercedes-Benz like the ones pictured in the brochure.

There's definitely a few on here at that range. Heck, even in our beloved city of Portland I'm sure you see the regular 190sl and fintails (maybe even mine) pretty regularly running around town. Cool Portland is listed there as well, being the oldest US dealership.
Also odd how they colored the chrome on the black 220 sedan a bit yellowish in pics but not the headlight chrome, making those look white, almost like a solid euro lamp tho you can plainly see two US style bulbs. Funny how that could be overlooked back then.

Here's my '59 220S cabriolet. Our ponton group made a whole deck of cards from member's cars.

I've got a 1958 Ponton 220S; it's listed in the classified section.
