W108 speedo cable washers

Hi

I pulled the cable off my '67 250 SE sedan a day or two ago to clean it out and check for kinks etc, and did not see which way the small washer and 'c' ring that are at the Gearbox end are fitted. Does the small washer go into the cable sheath first then the 'c' shaped ring/spacer or the other way around? The 'c' ring fell out as I removed the cable from the 'box, preventing me seeing its correct fitting...

Regards
Simon

I don't have one handy but I bet the parts diagram book shows what goes in first. The big one that came with the owner's manual, like this.

I can't follow your link.

Do you mean the parts CATALOG >>A<< ?

If so, then it sadly doesn't...

I've never seen one with a c ring, all mine are crimped . The washer would go on first so the C ring doesn't rub on the cable housing and works against the washer instead.
