Windows Stuck All Around - 1969 w115/220 Gas
So, as I continue to work on getting all the engine/brake mechanicals up and running I am pondering the windows. Since I got this 1969 220 I note that every window in the car is almost impossible to crank up! I can hear that the window crank mechanism is not attached to at least some of the window which is an obvious problem, but even pulling the windows up by hand is tough. Is the problem mostly the old fuzzy window tracks themselves? It's an AZ car.
What is the trick, secret, best way etc. to refurbish the windows so they work well by hand crank. Can the window tracks be refurbished/saved or am I looking at expensive new ones. Feedback is appreciated. Chris |

Pull the door panels and get in and look at the mechanism.
It may be lack of lube on the regulator itself, out of alignment channels, of dry channels. Lube the regulators with Lubri-plate, and blow some dry graphite into the fuzzy channels. Jim

Thanks Jim, I will just have to get in and see what the story is. I think they need a good overhaul for sure - thanks for the tip on Lubriplate - that's a new one on me.

good ideas all, those mechanisms can get really grundgy. They are pretty solid and rare to actually fail. Let us know what you find, I do have a few lying about if you find a broken one

It would seem the mechanical have fallen off the windows and the windows are jamming in the tracks - but I have to get into it for sure.
How best to reattach the window glass to the metal bracket of the mechanicals? |
