Retracting Seat Belts for w/115

I have a 1969 w/115 / 220 - I would like to swap the old fixed seat belts for a set of retractable ones - what should I look for and when did MB start using them?

I think MB started putting the retractable belts in about 74, so the later W114's and W115's have the retractable belts. For my 72 w114 I bought new generic retractable belts for the front and they work great. In the rear I purchased used belts from a ~75 w114 and was able to install them easily with only minor modification to the belt. My 72 had the threaded nut welded into the package tray, so the belts bolted right in. I did have to grind off a stud on the belt mounting plate to get them to lay flat on the top of the package tray. Up front I had to disconect the warning buzzer because the generic belts did not have that feature.

If anyone has any that would fit, please let me know.

Chris-
Slightly off topic, but what is the condition of your existing front belts? Is the webbing still unfrayed? My reason for asking is that the webbing on one of my non-retracting Kangol hook-style front belts is frayed and needs fixing. It was the driver's side, but I moved it over to the passenger side. I feel very antisocial when I have a friend in the car and they are stuck using the highly frayed belt. Anyway, if one of yours is in decent condition (and not a too incompatible color), I would be interested in it.

I know that you can have new webbing sewn to old fittings, but there is nowhere in my town that does that (legally), and I am trying to keep costs down.

Thanks.

Andrew

My '73's had the three point belts but they had an insert in the upright center post where they bolted. You'd have to fit a nut-sert to use any of the three pointers. I don't recall seeing retractable front belts in any of the older W114's (pre-73) I've owned. They all had the "airplane" style latches.

Shorts, sorry, my belts are toast! Otherwise I would gladly send them your way.

Haha, sounds familiar. Thanks for getting back to me.

Hope you are able to find what you are looking for.

I have a set of the rear retractable seat belts. Bought a W116 Euro 350SE. The seller gave me a set that I will not use preferring to get the more integrated ones for the US version 116's. If you pay postage and packing, they are yours. Send me a PM.

Hey, thank you, that will be great! How about $17. - that will cover the cost of a priority mail Medium Flat rate box - that is good for up to 75lbs and I would think that the belts would fit great in that box.

Let me know and I will paypal you. (need your paypal address)

I better ask, are those shoulder belts or lap belts for the rear?
I have lap belts, noplace to attach shoulder/3 points.
