73. 280C,STALLS AFTER PUT IN DRIVE OR- R-N-GEAR
HI GUYS! I JUST STARTED ON THIS 280C, AND ITS BEEN SITTING FOR A WHILE AND ONLY STARTS AFTER A BIT 0F GAS SPRAYED INTO THE CARB! IT RUNS NICE AFTER AND SEEMS TO IDOL OK. AFTER FEW MIN IF I WAS TO MOVE THE SHIFTER IT STALLS AND WONT START UNLESS A BIT OF GAS AGAIN INTO THE CARB! NOW I TOOK THIS FROM SOMEONE THAT HAS PUT ON A NEWER,BUT THE RIGHT SOLEX CARB AND DONE SOME WORK ON THE ENGINE ETC! THE ENGINE RUNS LIKE A DREAM MUCH MORE QUIETER THAN WHAT I .V SEEN OR HEARD! I HAVE FRESH GAS ETC,BUT THIS IS MY FIRST ENCOUNTER WITH THIS INFAMUS CARB! I OWNED LOTS OF 220-280SE COUPES BUT ALL WITH INJECTORS AND I ALWAYS GOT THEM RUNNING GOOD,SO IF I CAN GET A BIT OF HELP ON THIS,IT BE NICE! THANKS A LOT! LEMMY

You either have a vacuum leak or your idle is set too low.

Did you add to the fuel or replace it?
