Torque settings!
Does anybody have the Torque setting for a 220sb diff pinion shaft??
Im replacing oil seals and i don't think the lock nut was done up tight enough. it wasn't tight at all in fact, it just spun off with a flick of the little finger after the locking plate was straightened.. surely this isn't good! |

There is no given torque setting for this nut.
You measure the resistance of the pinion shaft as you turn it. With a complete axle ( diff and axle shafts in) and used bearings, you tighten the nut until you reach a resistance of 26 to 30 cmkg. The axle halves should be in a straight line and the brakes drums removed to do this adjustment.

Also, you need a torque wrench with a dial, not the click stop or arrow style.
Rent one and get a few crush sleeves.
