Torque settings!

Does anybody have the Torque setting for a 220sb diff pinion shaft??
Im replacing oil seals and i don't think the lock nut was done up tight enough.
it wasn't tight at all in fact, it just spun off with a flick of the little finger after the locking plate was straightened.. surely this isn't good!

There is no given torque setting for this nut.
You measure the resistance of the pinion shaft as you turn it.
With a complete axle ( diff and axle shafts in) and used bearings, you tighten the nut until you reach a resistance of 26 to 30 cmkg.
The axle halves should be in a straight line and the brakes drums removed to do this adjustment.

Also, you need a torque wrench with a dial, not the click stop or arrow style.

Rent one and get a few crush sleeves.
