Folks,
I've tried several times to run the VIN on a 1972 SL350 that i'm looking at with NO luck whatever. - ALL the websites keep telling me that: "NO SUCH VIN EXISTS" or "your request must have exactly 17 characters". YES, i checked the VIN twice to assure that the VIN was written down correctly.) Can anyone help with VIN number: 10704412003866. thanks, tex |

That's a chassis number not a VIN. VIN's didn't come out until the early 80's.

body type 107 = R107
engine type 044 = 450 8 cylinder steering left hand side = 1 transmission automatic = 2 (to name the first 8 digits) rest of the numbers is a production number, yours is3866 of that year you can submit that to Mercedes Classic and they can give you the build data for options ect.
