Fix Whistling Vent Window (W108)

I saw a post a while back about fixing a whistling vent window but cant seem to find it again. I believe it said something about taking of the door panel and tightening something.

Ive got a little bit of time today and I was hoping to dive into the project. If anyone has any information on how to fix the issue, it would be appreciated.

Sounds like the seal has compressed slightly and you'll need to shorten the rod connecting window and lever. It's a ball-and-cup setup, clean and regrease while you're in there.

Once you have the door panel off and examine the mechanism, you'll figure it out. It's pretty simple.

Here is a great thread from the M100 board on fixing the vent windows.

Very timely posts - mine is whistling too. Thanks.

I'm used to old British cars - I didn't even think of the quarter-light having adjustment! Got to love the old Mercedes...

Its easy

All you need to do is tighten the closing lever which will creat a snuger fit. To get to the adjustment (ball and cap) pull the top door cover. Disconnect the cap from the ball and twist the cap one or two times and reconnect. The window will close tighter. Preform a test ride to confirm that the seal is good.
Good Luck

I'll go and do it right now :-)

.... Done - though I had to take the whole door trim off on the drivers door as the adjustment piece had frozen on the thread and needed a little more access to get it to move. Wish all cars were as easy to work on :-)
