Good point. Just because your 3.5 can do 6800 RPMs does NOT mean the cast aluminum fan can!

this is what I will do:
Refill of viscous fan clutch pictures

drill 3.2 hole, tap M4, put 10000 oil in and plug the hole with set M4 screw

shorten pin by 0.4mm (from 8.4 to 8.0mm)

I put about 30ml of Toyota oil into the clutch through the new hole and the vacuum pump on the pin hole. It is hard to tell how much is enough or too much.
I couldn't figure out any change in resistance by turning the clutch.

I had the fan clutch leaning against the wall (upright position) for a few days and I saw some oil, not much, leaking out of the seal side (the side facing the water pump). This is weird and I guess the axle seal is damaged...unfortunately. Anyhow I'll test the clutch and report back.
But first I am trying to get my cylinderheads redone...some struggle in Oman.

Martin, you've definitely been busy lately working on this car. Good luck and keep up the good work!

Best Regards,

David

Thanks. This car is weird. In the moment I can drive and have some fun something unexpected is happening. But I am soooo close.

The fan clutch is now leaning in upright position for some time...say 2 weeks now and silicone oil is clearly leaking out. So I don't know but I assume that this is a bad sign of failing shaft seal or do you think the oil is leaking coming from somewhere else?

You sure you actually got the oil inside as opposed to just in some random hollow spot in the center?

You could replace that fan with a big honkin electric fan. Your car would be much quieter and not use so much power to coolit.

The viscous coupling must be stored vertically.

These are the only kinds of auxiliary fan that can be found in Oman:

Hi Tomguy,

This is not my picture but I had the holed exactly at the same spot.
I put over one tube of Toyota oil in ...not sure what you mean with random hollow spot?
The oil must be in the chamber. There is no other location to my knowledge.
Anyhow I have the cylinderheads removed and will see what the clutch does after installation.
The leak at the saft seal is unfortunate and this is maybe how the original oil disappeared.
