220/8 Block Drain Plug Location

Hi All,

Can someone tell me where the water drain plug is located on the block of my 220? Engine number is 115. 920 10 045591. I'm preparing to do a thorough flush and I don't want to do any guessing.

Cheers

Coastal-
Do you have the FSM for your vehicle? For my 220D, it had a picture of the location, which is down low, beside the starter, on the passenger side of the engine. BUT, truth be told, I could never get the plug out. So I used a hose to simply flush water through the engine. Later, I had to guess how much water was still in the engine to get the 50/50 coolant/water mix reasonably accurate, so my decisions were not ideal. But it seems to have worked out fine.

Sorry to not be able to answer your question precisely.

I don't have the FSM, unfortunately. I have a Chilton's and an aftermarket "Owner's Workshop Manual" published by VelocePress. If anyone has a FSM available--please let me know.

How exactly should I flush the engine with a hose if I can't get the drain bolt out? Thanks guys.

Here are two photographs I snapped off. The first shows a hex bolt down by the starter, it looks pretty difficult to get to but not impossible. I assume this the water drain plug?

The other image shows two plugs with recessed allen heads down under the exhaust manifold and close to the front of the block--are these both my freeze plugs--why are there two right next to each other?

Thanks guys.

This post got a little buried. Can someone verify that the bolt in this photo is the block drain bolt? It seems like it will give my starter a bath when it's opened up. Thanks for your time.

Thanks everyone. As the last reply said, this is the block drain bolt, and it's a 22mm hex head. Actually very easy to get to with an open-end wrench, but I don't have air conditioning.

Cheers
