w108 oil pan removal

Can the oil pan be removed from a w108 with the engine in situ? Ie, will it slide off once it's loose, or will it hit a main bearing cap or something else and get wedged between it and the crossmember?
The lower oil pan, oil pump and timing cover are already off.

The Chilton's manual from the time says....

"Early models had a three-point engine suspension, and the oil pan could be removed without pulling the engine from the chassis. Since 1959, a four-point engine suspension has been employed and the engine must be removed before the oil pan can be taken off."

Thanks! The problem with Chilton is they cover a bunch of different models, so it's hard to know which model/engine they are talking about.

Can't hurt to try. if it does not come off you can lift the engine until it does. Is it a one piece pan? I will not hit main caps as the engine is a Y block with skirts well below the crankshaft but it might hit the crank itself. here's a pick of the crankshaft: That's a 5.6 crankshaft in there so it's slightly larger.

That's what I am thinking.

No. I already have the lower pan and the oil pump out.

The oil pan is out! I loosened the engine mounts and jacked up the engine (by the bellhousing) as high as it would go (2-3 inches, no heads on there now) and it slid right out!
