w108 280se m130 0-60 times...

I've always been curious about it... So I got a Gtech off of ebay and did a few runs today. Car is a 1969 280se w/ 4spd auto. 1/4 tank of gas, 65F, about sea level and one 180# driver. Fastest time was 9.90 sec. Slowest was 10.58 sec. Anyone else timed themselves out of curiosity? Not as slow as I expected the car to be! I'll be swapping to the pressed aluminum rims soon and wanted to do a comparison of how much difference that made...

I'll bring my hourglass to measure 0-60 when I next hop in the car...

Pat, seriously, you are not the least bit curious what difference your 15" bundts or 1234001302 wheels make?

Yup, I am curious, but I have to get my kickdown switch working first. So far, it is leisurely, and more leisurely...

As an aside, I have been driving my 108 daily for a few weeks or so, and today I hopped in my 92 BMW 535. I had to readjust to the pedal response.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? Wow that is impressive, to me anyway. I think my old W202 did similar numbers and it had a supercharger.
My present car is slow enough that when I run to the store, I call ahead to ask what days they are open, not what times.

Palolo, maybe your kickdown switch is installed upside down, giving you a kick-up switch?

These cars are not drag racers. They are highway cruisers.

Agreed! I was expecting just shy of 12 sec. I used to own a 63 220seb coupe. This 69 280se is significantly faster for sure though, especially 0-40. It just jumps off the line -I'd guess under 5 sec to 40. Then there is a huge gap in gearing when it shifts gears around 40mph and 40-60 seems to take longer than 0-40. I do hope my gtech is not screwed up and that is why it was on ebay... Maybe I need a way to calibrate the gtech..
