Would someone be kind enough to verify that my chassis number is 056511 as seen in the picture below?
Despite browsing this form for this stuff I've never quite been able to translate everything the main ID (?) tag.

Cheers

Costal decoded the VIN for you, which was the first photo. The other tag is the body/options tag.

It tells you the paint code, interior code, body type, engine type, etc......

Do a bit of internet research and you can decode these numbers with ease.

When you are ordering parts at the dealer always give them the VIN number or they cannot figure out the correct parts you will need.

You have options:

427 Power steering and gear stick on the floor
491 USA version
503 Passenger-side mirror
511 factory-installed Becker radio
580 A/C

Paint code 181 Light Beige

How can I learn the date/month of my car's manufacture? One manual asks whether it was produced before December of 1970, or something along those lines...

But what is the chassis number

I realize this is an old thread, but the original question was about the chassis number. There was a response about the serial number but is that the same as the chassis number? No one has directly answered the question and I'm in the same boat looking for an answer on this one.
Thanks!

Serial number = chassis number.

:)

I think that is not always correct. Or to say it another way, sometimes the VIN number doesn't match the body number which can look almost like the VIN number. But I can't prove it and I don't have a specific example.

Old thread! Is the OP still listening?

This one is easy. There's a tag in the driver's door jamb. Upper LH corner shows month/year of manufacture.
