Manual to automatic window conversion...wow

Hi All,

Just saw this on ebay. I have a 1971 250 (manual windows).

Anyone ever done this (kind of pretty awesome for the price).

That says remote lock system. Not window!

The four devices over on the right attach between the window lift and the door panel on the window crank's shaft and turn it for you, effectively giving you power windows.

Most of them are pretty slow (look at the size of the motor) and rely on gearing to turn the crank without popping fuses. I haven't tried this system, but have seen others put them on their cars and they worked for a little bit.

The cheap sets are quite chav and one is typically better off leaving the manual cranks. May as well get a better quality set if one is keen to adapt them to an old MB:

Hi Palolo,

Motor did look pretty small. I don't know, I am definately going to do the locks...

But for now hold off on the windows until I find some with some decent power (SPAL's perhaps). Kind of like the cranks, just a pain when you want both front windows open on a nice day and have to reach over to the passenger side to lower them.

Many brands, kits, designs.

BEFORE YOU BUY ANY BRAND:
I strongly suggest you compulsively search for complaints and reviews BY MODEL AND BRAND.
Don't get ripped off by cheap or pretty = you need durability...

My experience:
Most aftermarket units are VVVVeeeerrrryyyy sssslllloooowwww, the worst example was 38 seconds full up / full down....
Some cheap units will not survive six months in a daily driver.
