Would you roll this wagon?
My mind was wandering a bit the other day and I finally took some time to make an image of my fantasy car. Moto Arigato: Mercedes-Benz W111 Fintail Coupe Shooting Brake Fantasy Car

Those Uni's are terrific and infinitely more practical, but I have always loved the Aston Martin DB5 Shooting Brake (technically a shooting brake is a 2-door car, never 4) because they are more elegant versions, traditionally used for hunting. I think the W111 coupe would make an excellent base for one of these conversions.

Whoa!
If a wagon can be "sexy", this is it !!

Is this sexy? It looks to share in all the worst design influences of today -- especially those absurd brake lights inspired by what seems to be a praying mantis, not to mention the convenience store LED bar running across the back.
No thanks. I'd rather be in any noisy, smoking MB from the 123s back. Though the facelifted W210s had some charm I feel like everything from 212s onward started looking like they could have been derived from the people at Nissan. This ungainly thing is just that, but gone even more awry. Last edited by Coastal220; 03-29-2013 at 09:10 PM. |

+1 - Ugh, perhaps it's the worst angle on the car!

why can't they just call it a wagon....

The same reason they call them CUVs, because Minivan and Wagon are dirty words, and "Egg" (an accurate description of the shape of most CUVs) doesn't sound good either.
I like the CLS (well the prev gen not this one) but that is hideous to me. The 111 wagon PS looks pretty good, but I'm not too big of a wagon fan (which is why I got the Charger vs its brother the Magnum, same vehicle except for the rear gate). Although now that I have a kid, I would probably go the other way around this time.

I hate minivans, cross overs, and SUV's.... Wagons do everything you need them to do. Curse you GM and Chrysler for your crappy double fake wood sided crap wagons from the late 70's-90's.

I am beginning to think most people who clicked the link didn't actually scroll down to see the W111 wagon, the CLS wagon at the top of the page was for illustrative purposes... but I ain't mad at ya'll!
I'll make it simpler, would you roll THIS wagon:

Sorry Marrs, the post was kind of visually hijacked when this happened:
The W111 is a different story altogether. I don't know if I like it better than a wagon but I think this might have something to do with the the style of the artist's rendering... Anything but that thing ^ Last edited by Coastal220; 03-30-2013 at 03:38 AM. |

Well I'm the artist but I accept your opinion as I never shy away from criticism. That was an iPad doodle when I was lounging in the hammock a couple of days ago so I didn't spend much time on it, just wanted to knock out the overall shape since I was always curious. I can see the general consensus is "please do not ever build that car!" lol
