Cam oil tube loose
The cam oiler tube on the left bank lifts off easily - that can't be good.
Is there a type of glue that is used to reattach it? Also - do the headbolts really only torque to 60Nm, or about 46 Ft-lb?? Seems low. Thanks, Csaba 72 280SEL 4.5 |

NO GLUE on the tube! You probably need new plastic clips.
1972 Mercedes-Benz 280SEL Sedan - Camshafts & Timing Chains - Page 1 Torque is done in 2 steps. Step 1 to 30, then step 2 to 60 Nm, then warm it up and re-torque.

It's worth repeating-as Tom said never reuse old clamps. They are very inexpensive and will ruin your cam(s) if they fall off. Insure the small holes in the tubes above the cam lobes are clear.

I'll order new ones. I need to order some other stuff anyways - apparently the head gasket set does not come with a valve cover gasket - WTF...

It doesn't come with valve stem seals either. |
