Fuel pump location - 72 280SE 4.5
 

Gustav cranks, but won't fire. Getting spark, and air is a given, so assuming (as a starting point anyway :P ) that he ain't getting fuel.

Darling Wife drove him to the barn just fine, 3 hours later when she goes to leave, this kicks in.

Going to head out today to see what's what - thinking maybe fuel pump (or circuit to the fuel pump). Realized I don't know where his fuel pump is located.

Any hints?

Jim, you're such a cad! I can't believe you make DW go out to get her own car. You should have the car started, warmed up, fueled, polished and waiting at the front door for her! Honestly, I don't know why she puts up with such poor treatment from you!:D

The pump should be located in front of the fuel tank under the car. You should hear it "whir" when you turn the key to the "run" position. Many times you can give a bit of a tap and it'll start working.

There is a secondary wire @ the battery (+) terminal. This powers pretty much the entire D-Jet system including the fuel pump. Check this for corrosion or looseness first. After that the fuel pump is in a housing right in front of the tank. Like Mike says a tap on it may help. The fuel pump relay is on the board the ECU is mounted on and is a bit of a pain to get to. A tap on it may help as well.

And THAT post leads directly into one of your previous questions about a battery drain problem. Mayhaps the two are connected?

Well then - followed the wire off the battery + terminal, whacked the relay in it's general vicinity, hit the go button, and.....

VRRROOOOMMM!!!!!

Good gracious sakes alive, I love this car. Half an hour of mindless cruising about followed the "repair" work I did.

Dark current remains at essentially zero, with fuse #1 removed. Gonna call this good enough for now and just enjoy spring time rollin' with the windows down.
