Too many intake gaskets?? w108
Soon I will have to put the intake manifold back on the V8 engine.
The head gasket sets came with two regular 'flat' intake gaskets each (so I have 4 gaskets) plus 4 large o-rings, maybe around 50mm (2") diameter. I assume I only use one each of the flat gaskets, but what are the o-rings for? Thanks, Csaba 72 280SEL 4.5 |

You will have some spares after installation.... intake to head and some of the aluminum rings (exhaust seals) will be not used.
The aluminum rings go into the exhaust downpipe and seal the exhaust manifolds against the downpipes. Beware of the correct installation per manual of the exhaust manifold (against head) gaskets (metal against head...if I recall correctly but maybe I am mistaken). |

The aluminum rings are manifold to downpipe gaskets?
From what I recall the exhaust manifold gaskets only went on one way, but I'm not sure now. Csaba |
