w108: Brake Caliper rebuilt or rebuild kits?

Hi,
Anyone have any experience with the cheap Nugeon rebuilt calipers that are sold for the w108s? How about the caliper rebuild kits? The ATE and FTC kits are about $15 while the MB stuff is >$80. Do the cheaper ATE/FTC kits work?

I am on the verge of a braking system overhaul -new rotors, pads, lines and was thinking of addressing the calipers too.

Thanks,
Narayan

ATE is the manufacturer of the calipers, so their kits should be as good as it gets.

rebuilding them IMHO not worth the time or effort, the reman's are the best way to go. Dont ask me how I know (x10 give or take a few brake rebuilds)

I purchased the remanufactured for my w116 and they where excellent. Installed them in one day.

I had previously purchased the kit to rebuild my W108's ..... Still on the pending things to do!!!!

I rebuilt the front calipers on my 300D using the non-MB OEM kit. Don't remember which, it was in 2004. Messy job but the front brakes have been leak free.
Bought ATE NEW calipers for the back end a couple years ago. Guess it all depends on how pitted/corroded your calipers are, if you want to gamble a bit on rebuilding. . .

I just bought some rebuilt ones from a local auto parts store for $45 a pop. not sure if they were from China or not, but that was the price.

Just did the rears with rebuilt ATE calipers from Carpartsking.com -45 minutes per side and they seem to work just fine so far. Going to order the fronts next. I'm thinking of upgrading to the v8 vented rotor setup.
