I've also wondered why Mercedes changed from the corner-signals in the headlight bezels, to the fender-mounted ones, which are much less visible from the side!
My '60 Fintail 220S came with dual-filament bulbs & sockets for parking/turn-signals in the corner lamps. The bulbs and lenses in mine are clear, but amber-tinted bulbs are availble, as were used in many '60s cars to provide clear lamps with the required amber signal color. The early Fintail lights are probably (as someone mentioned) rare as hen's teeth. I'd just cut holes in the later style part to fit a three-wire universal socket. I wouldn't worry about them being really watertight, as the original Fintail versions aren't either. Happy Motoring, Mark
