Getrag 265 Conversio/ hydraulic throwout bearing -how?

Hi,
I am working on a Getrag 265 conversion on a 500 E W124. I am using a Alpina-Sachs 240 mm Friction and first a Alfa central slave cylinder but it didn't work, after 200km it leaks. I think I've made two different errors, first the master on the Alfa-hydraluic is 17 mm smaller than 19mm (Mercedes) and I don't kept the correct free-play between friction and complete kompressed slave cylinder. This free play is virtual as the CSC normaly is engaged with the clutch all the time but it has to be calculated because of the wear of the friction wich gives less free play in time.
Now I will use the Opel Omega CSC wich hase the same friction and mastercylinder.But the question is what about the free-play, it has to be 2-3-4-5 mm.The custom guys using CSC with 2-3mm free play.
The Sachs friction has 8 mm to be complete free, the CSC has 20mm max movement, how can I contemplait the wear of the clutch?

Any Idea?

Welcome-glad to see you came over to this side. Are you using a hydraulic throw out bearing? I have done some research and plan on using one when I get my project done-much better than the slave cylinder and throw out bearing. Maybe that's what you are using already.

Re: Release bearing travel

For a clutch of 240mm, the ratio of movement between the pressure plate and the release fingers will be on the order of 4-4.5:1, that is, for 1mm of wear of the friction disc, the fingers will rise by 4-4.5 mm.

Total permissible wear of both sides of the disc would be expected to be approximately 2mm. Hence, finger rise will be 8-9mm, and that is the unused travel or free play that must remain in the CSC when installed with a new friction disc.

An available stroke of the CSC of 20mm, less the wear stroke of 8-9mm, leaves 11-12mm of stroke to release the clutch, which should be sufficient for a clutch of 240mm.
