W114 250c: Diagnose failed clutch master vs slave cylinder?
My 1970 250c is exhibiting systems of hydraulic clutch actuation failure. Basically an erratic clutch engagement point that gets higher the more I pump the clutch pedal, and lower the less I use it. I'm guessing either (or maybe both!) the clutch master cylinder or slave cylinder has failed, but I'm wondering if there any way to know without simply throwing parts at it. Additionally, if there are any tips on the R&R of these components, I'd love to hear them.

I have a vehicle whose clutch slave fails every three years or so, with regularity.
Virtually every time, early on, I found that after changing the slave, the master would start weeping fluid down the pedal, or right on to my shoe. Now I change them at the same time. I also change the flex hose at the slave... |
