1975 w115 transmission shifting issues

Hello again guys, now I have new problems, as usual. My w115 vibrates on every shift now and it is lagging in 2nd to 3rd gear. In order to get it to shift somewhat smoothly I need to let off the gas. The transmission is very clean and appears to have been replaced not too long ago and while I definitely include the possibility of bad tranny, I want to look at other possible issues first.

thanks!

115.017, or

115.117, or

Transmission shifting issues 1975 300D

I have owned the car for 3-4 years used it for a daily driver for the last 4 months. I drive it now about 30 miles a day mostly 65-70 on the freeway in flat Texas 15 miles each way. it doesnt smoke much at all runs with no detonation, everything works but the A/C (compressor gave out just this summer).

the issue is the trans started shifting hard (banging from 1st to 2nd) then acted normal... now it is under light throttle slipping in 4th gear. if I shift it back one to gear and then to "drive" well giving it good throttle it engages and no problems. It seems inconsistent. I checked some of the vacuum lines all seem good, the locks work and it shuts off with the key at zero hesitation. it is not leaking any fluid the level is good as well.

any thoughts?

Check the rod on the side of the trans that goes to the throttle linkage for play both where it clamps on the trans and a bushing. If it is loose it will cause strange shifting.

Thanks I will check it out. I also noticed that it does it terribly in 4th when it is warmed up too.
