W123 power steering only one direction
Looking at a 1980 W123, seller says power steering only works clockwise but not counterclockwise. Is this an easy fix? Seems like a fluid valve stuck or something like that. A costly repair?

I assume the pump is working if there's power steering one way and not the other.
There is a control valve on the steering box - but it is on the back of the unit - you need to remove the steering box to access it. What a feeling it will be! A properly adjusted W123 / W116 / W126 power steering box You might be better off buying a second hand unit (though keep an eye on the Pitman arm types). In Holland they sell from about 70 euros upwards. I can provide a link to someone who is relatively reliable if you need it!
