Keychain?

I just got back from a junkyard run, and while in there I found a key with this keychain on it. It's obviously genuine Mercedes...and for a keychain it feels pretty solid. It also looks pretty old to me. Did the dealer throw in a keychain when buying a car back in the day? Has anyone seen one of these before? The guy from the junkyard threw it in free with all the other goodies I bought so I couldn't resist. Who else has some cool old keychains/fobs?

By the font on the back of the chain I'd place it as late '90's early '00's. You can still get them as official Benz accessories. Perhaps not exactly the same but along the same line. Nothing special, just cool to us Benz'ers.

Nice key chain! And total win win finding it at jy...we may be able to get a better date on it, if you showed the key too...also looks like a nice camel back trunk its sitting on! They are nice but damn pricey to restore and absolutely no resale value...

Thanks for the info everyone. I have a themed keychain for all of my cars, and this one is by far my favorite. I left the key that was on it with the car (it seemed wrong to separate them), but it was a generic key. The car was a '72 250C, btw.
