T50 remote booster replacement
 

Has anyone used Bendix Hydrovac booster as a replacement for ATE T50. I've seen 3 Bendix versions available from Cardone; numbers 518056 and 518091 are 9.5" in diameter but 518028 is 6.75" diameter, which would be closer to ATE booster. Brake lines would need to have SAE flare at booster end, but that is easy. This is for a 63 220Sb. These Bendix boosters look so closely the same as T50 that they must have some history together.

get a used one, plumb it in and take it for a test drive. Either it works or it doesn't. It's not rocket science. -cth

Not so easy to find a used single circuit booster that hasn't leaked brake fluid into the vacuum chamber. I already have 3 of them and all have the same problem. And even if there was one that doesn't leak right now, it probably would fail within few months anyway, we are talking about over 50 years old rubber seals anyway. Rebuilding them would be easy, but parts availability is bad. MB has discontinued almost all of the seals and rebuilders don't want to sell the seals only.
So, I feel the best option would be to use a Bendix booster for US made car or truck. The rebuilt ones go for around $300 and now there is new one that looks just like ATE T50 and costs around $400. These T50 look-a-likes were used by all US makes in fifties; Caddy, Chevy, Stude, Ford etc.
