W115 Ignition Woes. What will work?

So my old 220 Diesel has developed the stuck key syndrome. While I do plan on getting in there and hopefully just replacing the tumbler I was curious if I find more damage will an ignition body from a gas 220 work for a Diesel 220? I hve one in a parts bin if need. Thanks for replies!

the tumbler might, not sure about the body, are the wires still attached to the parts one, may be as simple as seeing if they match. My concern would be the glow plug circuit

Since glow is controlled with the stop/run/glow/start knob, and not the ign. switch itself, the gasser ign. switch would lack the correct key positions - it's got a "start" position the diesel switch lacks and the wiring connections might differ. But it might work well enough to unlock the steering and provide power to the accessories and starter?

Seems like a reasonable chance the cylinders are the same, though.

And one other thought - what shape is your key in? Might a "new" from Benz key help out, one that's not a copy? I recently bought master keys for each W115 from the local dealer. Cost about $30 each.

No luck with new key, had to "drill" out the assembly today. Don't have other assembly in hand yet to compare. Most likely gonna go to the MBZ deal and look up part numbers for now

I went to the dealer and bought a new steering lock, tumbler, etc etc. Figured I did not want to do the job twice.
