Hmm

Year and VIN# are required to verify the correct engine.

Is it me or are those exhausts ported backwards?

Your 10-year-old has his own car? I thought I was ahead of the game when I bought my first car at the age of 15...!

Is this something you are both into, or is it his thing (or your thing ;):D).

No, this is the rare longitudinal FWD W108. It has the transmission mounted in front of the engine, from where it powers the front wheels. This was an option only with smaller engines.

Sounds quite Saabish, in many respects.

I don't have it to look at, since I sold it about a year ago, but I think the M130 in my W114 was the same way.

RHD car guys.

That's a 220 motor. Getting it in and running will be work. A 280se wire harness isn't set up for the carbs, it expects a mechanical fuel injection motor (MFI).

Are you sure the car is actually a 280se? It's chassis number would start with 108.018.20.

Great learning experience for him if he's interesting in reading and getting dirty.

thanks guys,iv found out its a 63 model engine, the car should have a m130 in it... my son is always helping my neighbour so he gave him the car for some shed space, it was his wifes parents car , so yeah a project we can both do.Thanks for the feed back, it has taken me a wile to find where to find my post..

jamieh 09-08-2013 04:07 AM

yeah mate it is a 280 se, the motor isn't in the car, he got the motor to put in it because his brother had a ford motor in it and he was trying to get it back to original , but we will have to keep an eye out for a m 130.

cth350 09-08-2013 09:04 AM

nothing wrong with fitting that motor for now. Rebuilding the carbs may be necessary and they are unique to the choice of motor. But where one fits, the other will go.
