It appears that they have the intake and exhaust valves reversed in the manual.

I found the same issue, when I was trying to figure out my window switch wiring....if I connected the pins, per FSM....the switch would operate backwards....up was down and down was up....I pulled the door card thinking someone replaced the motor and reversed the wires....but it was the FSM that had it wrong...

This is where I got the info from.

The labels for the intake and exhaust at the lower right are reversed. The arrows on the head diagram are correct. The black arrows are correct for the exhaust and the white arrows are correct for the intake. The legend is wrong. This is for an M110 engine.

Not from what I have seen, but who knows.

In a normally aspirated engine, typically the intake valve diameter is larger than the exhaust since the combusted gasses are forced out of the exhaust valve by the rising piston (with a little scavenging help from prior cylinders' exhaust gasses going out the pipe) but the intake is relying on vacuum created by the dropping piston to fill the cylinder with incoming mixture, so it uses a large/r valve to get more in, more easily, more quickly. (In a turbo engine, the mixture is forced in, so who knows, things may be different, like their cam timing is)

At least that's how I think of it. Maybe there's a real scientific reason that other folks know...
