W114 engine knocking

I have sthetoscope and tried to isolate the noise but I couldn't.
All I can tell is that is coming from the left hand side of the engine in the carbs area.
I went all around and it is not specific to one spot per se, more of an all around noise.

So I adjusted the valves properly and the overrun sounds is still there
In other words it didn't do anything
Next I will try gas
