w108 auto trans fluid change weirdness

Tonight I changed the automatic transmission fluid and filter in the Benz. The weird things was that the manual says it takes 8 quarts to change the fluid, but only about two quarts came out of the pan.
How do I get the rest out? I know I can't get the fluid out of the converter, but on other cars I usually get more than 2 quarts out of the pan.
Maybe I can drain the cooler and lines?
Thanks,

Torque Converter Drain Plug

There is a drain plug on the torque converter. You will have to turn the engine over by hand until you see the drain plug show up in the small round hole on the bottom of the bell housing.

FWIW I got 2 liters (quarts) out of the pan, 4 liters from the converter.
However I put in 8 liters to fill it, and the fluid level was not even on the dipstick. Then I put in another 3/4 liters, and now it's overfull. Oh well, I'll let some out.

Don't over fill, or you will overheat the fluid and burn it....plus risk damaging the transmission first hand experience here.....I am not sure what trans you have but on my w123 you have to let the car idle in park at operating temperature and then check the fluid.....trans fluid expands when it heats up.....

Sounds a little low. I don't think the cooler lines and cooler (built into the bottom of the radiator) hold more than 1L. Was your fluid level low beforehand?

If not, you may need to drain about a quart to a quart and a half out.

I'd like to drain about half a liter and then see where it is. I always drive the car half a mile after filling and then check while idling.

Not when I first got the car running ~500 miles ago, and there are no leaks.
I will have to monitor it from now on.

You sound like you're checking before allowing it to get up to full temp. You need to make sure the engine & trans are at operating temp, and you're checking while idling the engine. That's all I have to add :)
