Hazard/flasher relay location
I have a 1973 280 sel (w108) and the turn signals just quit. The hazard warning lights are not working either.
I cleaned the "push style" red hazard switch but it seems the relay has quit.Does anyone know the placement of the relay on these cars? Without a clicking noise to track it's proving a pain. Thanks in advance |

If it is a LHD drive (you never mentioned your location) and it is the big red push type switch then it is located in the left hand side of the dash just above the parking brake bracket. Remove the cardboard knee plate for access. It looks like a standard U.S. flasher but those sneaky Teutons changed the terminals to pins. You can convert it to a 552/536 unit with the use of a bit of wire, a pair of spade ends and some solder.

Thanks Mike.
That solved the mystery....I found it dangling way back behind the fuse compartment!. I removed the relay, cleaned the contacts inside and replaced it. Upon testing it seems to work fine. Thanks all |
