so she cannot be driven with the dash the way she is ?
engine - have you done any service there ? Do you know cylinder pressures? |
It can be driven, no problem. I take it out and stretch her legs every few weeks.
Haven't done anything with the engine other than swapping out the rubber fuel lines. Haven't checked cylinder pressures. |
she is a nice one, and tugs at my heart strings. I miss my ol 72 220 and I need a project. Let me think on it. I am over 400 miles away , so that creates some issue, and of course I'm broke, and then there is the wife ...:):D

Sold.

Congrats! Ron, did you talk your wife into a new project? :)
|
Yeah!
Ron bought it! Now we get to take part in the journey. |
I wish it was this Ron! but alas not me

I am the lucky new owner of this car! Dash is all back together; gonna put off the Niedermeyer hack until next winter. After three days in my shop, it's had a new steering column coupler, tie rod ends, relined fuel tank, new filter and pressure regulator, new intake manifold gaskets and new injectors ($$$) and the transmission kickdown switch repaired. Joe, you'll be happy to know it now starts, idles and runs beautifully now.
I'm very happy with it. But have a question/favor for you forum regulars... The car is missing its dash bow and the topmost piece of wood trim for the driver's door window. I've searched high and low online to no avail -- might anyone have a lead on where to find these wood bits? Many thanks. Chris 1973 280SEL 4.5 |
Good to hear Chris. I'm looking forward to seeing it. Al of the wood trim should have been in the trunk. I will check around the shop and see if I misplaced that piece you're missing.
|
If you cannot find the missing wood, check with Madera Concepts in Goleta, Ca. They have a web site. Talk to Tony.
