W111 Fintail Odometer Upgrade?
We've been particpating in local rallies with our '67 Fintail. Since the odometer doesn't register tenths, we've been using GPS to keep us on course. Next season, our rallies will not allow modern technology. Anyone have an idea how we can get an old school odometer installed?
I've heard that there were police units that mounted under the dash but I have no idea how to find one... BTW, Happy New Year!

I rallied a VW back in the 60's. I had the same problem with no tenths on the VDO speedo.
But J. C. Whitney came to the rescue! There was an inline odometer unit that mounted under the dash that your speedo cable screwed into and then a length of speedo cable that went from the underdash unit to the in dash speedo. In this way you had your original speedo and a tenths mile indicator that the navigator could easily read. I don't know if these are still out there, but one might show up on Ebay.
