New guy needs parts help!

Hello
I just picked up a 1969 w108 280s and I need some assistance, please help!

I am looking for a few hoses and things and cant seem to find any on various websites....
I see plenty here on Pelican but am unsure of which to get
Bare with me as I dont know the technical names of a few of them

Looking for these...

1) The short hose that comes from the top of the air box down to the engine which has a 90degree bend at the end. Air vent hose maybe?
2) I am missing the two "bolts/screws" that come from the carbs that hold the air box in place.
3) I am seeing a thousand different fuel hoses to choose from but dont know which to get. The current ones that lead to the carbs are moldy and nasty.
4) various other vaccume hoses...I am unsure of sizing. I may just need to stop by Autozone or something

Any help would be great!

Thanks alot
-Nate

welcome Nate, sounds like you are missing the breather hose , the lines can be anywhere from 5mm inside ID to 14mm ID , most local part houses wont have them. You need to pull one and measure or call Pelican , they may be able to help with the size. Another way is to just order a few feet of each, they will all be metric, US dimensions wont work well.
Air cleaner mounts may be the other part you are looking for

Thanks Ron!
I have a call in for Bob at Pelican. Aparently he is versed with vintage parts.
I was afraid I would need to buy abunch of different sizes to try to match things up...makes sense to measure them up though. Thank the goodness for internet conversion calculators!

Throw an ad in the parts wanted section. If nothing else you might ask folks to send you a photo of the correct parts and then at least you would know just what you are looking for.

Another source is the Mercedes "Catalog of Illustrations" that is out there somewhere if you did not find one in your glove box. It shows every piece of your car and you can contact Mercedes and order the parts by giving them your VIN, the page number and the part number listed on that page. If you don't have this book they show up now and then on Ebay.

I actually do have the catalog, all kinds of goodies came with the car.

So I have another quick question...
I don't have fuel injection so that means I have an in line fuel filter right? I can't seem to find where it is.
Anyone know?

Thanks

invariably there is one right near the fuel pump at the base of the engine. But also zenith carbs can have an inline fuel filter.

BTW, the fuel delivery line that wraps around the nose of the motor and leads up to the first carb is metal with a cloth jacket. I made the mistake of trying to cut it off on my first car. Don't do that.

If you've not done so, look for old threads here on zenith carbs. Make sure you actually have them still or if they've been swapped out for webbers. Either way, treat them with respect that a dual carb setup deserves. Things can get interesting.

I was looking at that...pretty crazy. It seems as the old owner tried that then noticed the metal part. The reminants of part of the jacket is still there resting on the fuel pump. Currently the metal part only comes up to the front of the engine then its just braded line around to the carbs.

Pretty sure these are Zenith still. I will do some searching. Honestly I have no clue about dual carbs so for now its hands off as the car runs pretty well already. Thanks!
