More progress on my topless w116

More progress.
95% of the interior is now finished, a few minor trim panels to deal with yet. I am happy with the results so far.

Nice workmanship - looks like fun. It might seem simple to some when you don't have to worry about fabricating a soft top or the fit of windows, but that thought belies the quality of your effort. Enjoy it.

Now that's a cool project!

What have you done to stiffen the chassis?

There has been substantial strengthening along the length of the chassis as well as B pillars and cross members.

Very interesting. And attractive. A few questions:
1. Is it your intention to have a soft top (or removable hardtop which might be much easier) or will this be a special purpose good weather parade type car?
2. will there be side windows?
3. If you jack up the front wheel (and/or at the jack points), do the doors still open and close properly?

At this stage there are no plans for a removable/soft top, however that may change down the track.

Door still open properly when jacked due to substantial reinforcing.

If the front doors were a bit longer it would almost look like it was a factory option. Can you use 107 roof bits? I guess with a RHD car you are in the UK - you're going to need a roof!

This is sensational! Interior is gorgeous. What seats are you using in front? I like the more sporty nature compared to bog standard W116 seats.

That is a very good question. The seats were actually in the car when I purchased it. I just had them reupholstered. They are definitely MB seats, just not sure what model.

Is there any chance you can show or describe the strengthening you made to the chassis?

ditto on that info for body strengthening! Are the rear doors still functional? Kinda looks like maybe they've been welded up? Can't really be too sure from the current pictures posted here. Either way, looks very cool to me too! hmmmm, I wondering now about "violating" my M100!
